Paper Mario: Sticker Star is a role-playing video game developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 3DS. It was released in 2012, and it is the fourth installment in the Paper Mario series.

Unlike the previous games in the series, Sticker Star incorporates a paper theme, where everything in the game appears to be made from paper and looks two-dimensional. The story follows Mario as he embarks on a quest to retrieve the six Royal Stickers and rescue Princess Peach after Bowser scatters them across the Mushroom Kingdom.

The gameplay mechanics are unique in Sticker Star. Instead of traditional RPG battles, the player collects and uses stickers as their main attack method. Stickers can be found or bought throughout the game and are categorized into different types, each with its own abilities. The game focuses heavily on sticker management, as the player must carefully choose when and where to use stickers to progress.

Storyline[edit]

The storyline of Paper Mario: Sticker Star centers around Mario's quest to save the Mushroom Kingdom after the Sticker Comet explodes and scatters its stickers all over. In the beginning, Mario attends the Sticker Fest, where the Sticker Comet grants wishes to those who make them. However, Bowser decides to crash the festival and touch the comet, causing it to break apart and scatter its powerful stickers across the land. Princess Peach, who made a wish at the comet, is then kidnapped by Bowser and taken to his castle. Mario must set off on a journey to rescue Peach and restore the Sticker Comet. He is accompanied by Kersti, a sticker fairy, who promises to help him throughout his adventure.

Together, Mario and Kersti travel through various worlds, each filled with unique environments and challenges. These include a desert, a forest, a snowy mountain, and more. In each world, they must collect powerful stickers, defeat enemies, and solve puzzles to progress further. Throughout their journey, Mario and Kersti encounter several familiar characters from the Mushroom Kingdom, as well as new allies and enemies. Mario also faces off against powerful bosses who guard the Royal Stickers, which are essential to restoring the Sticker Comet.

The climax of the game takes place in Bowser's castle, where Mario must confront Bowser and his minions to rescue Princess Peach and restore the Sticker Comet.
